Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO Respond To Criticism Surrounding Their Faith

Jelly Roll and his wife, Bunnie XO, have spoken out against people who have attacked their faith and spirituality.

If you can't tell by his music, Jelly Roll is pretty big on God and the Christian faith. The rapper-turned-country sensation is open about leaning on God to get him through his hardest times. His recent singles, "Amen" and "Hard Fought Halleluiah," along with his previous songs, such as "Winning Streak" and "Church," practically scream this.

Recent comments have been getting under Bunnie XO's skin, however, so she thought to set the record straight with a TikTok video.

"We have always attributed being able to get through our darkest times because of leaning on God," she explained.

After giving examples of how long they've been outspoken Christians, she explains their personal connection to God. "We pride ourselves on being spiritual and not religious," she said. "Meaning we don't judge people and we try to lead with love; it's an action. We're not sitting and here saying we love Jesus, or that Jesus is our home boy, we just do it."

They May Not Be 'Perfect' Christians, But Does That Matter?

"Jesus loves the sinners," she said, recalling that Jesus spent time loving those away from God's light, rather than shunning them.

"My husband and I have always said that we are the losers, the outcasts, the misfits, and our message is for those people. We're not here to fit into a box."

A concise message that displays that faith isn't all dogma and tradition. Jesus preached that the most important rule is love, with no exception. And if you've been following along with them to any capacity, you'd know they have a lot of love to give, and aren't scared to dish it out.

Jelly Roll commented on the post, writing, "People like this don't deserve our energy. We know who we are. We know our relationship with each other and GOD- and most important we know the impact we are having on the kingdom and people."

I know the phrase "spiritual and not religious" will rub many Christians out there the wrong way, but it's important to observe this label in the correct context. People commonly refer to belief without tradition as spirituality.

All folks like Bunnie and Jelly Roll are concerned about is following Jesus' key principles, which is to share love, kindness, and peace. They are Christ's most prevalent messages. So surely they're doing something right.
