When the Met Gala comes to town, its fashions time to shine, as all the weirdest and most wonderful outfits to spring from the zany imaginations of the world's best designers get to be displayed on the rich and famous. For those in the know, the outfits are as avant garde and cutting edge as the industry gets, but for plebs like me, I just enjoy having a good laugh at how ridiculous everyone looks at the Met Gala.

Don't get me wrong. I think everyone turned up looking a billion dollars. I would die to be able to wear any of these outfits. That doesn't stop some of them being utterly outrageous, though.
Janelle Monae
When I first saw Janelle Monae walking down the carpet at the Met Gala, I had to do a double take. Her dandy inspired suit was a moving optical illusion. The outfit, initially, was one completely solid piece, sitting on top of her shoulders as a box.
The solid piece mirrored the rather fetching suit underneath. However, as she arrived, she looked like a lego character. The steampunk monocle and caricature bowler hat only added to the hilarious Met Gala outfit.
Colman Domingo
Co chair of the Met Gala Colman Domingo made quite the entrance wearing a cape that looked like something your mum would give you to play one of the three wise men. The long blue curtain-like material was tipped with a collar of sequined gold which complimented his earrings perfectly.
Underneath, he revealed a much more subdued suit. He still looked just as eye catching as before.
Cole Escola
Cole Ascola came dressed as my sleep paralysis demon. Slicked down hair whipped into a point between eyes made up to look like Alex's from the Clockwork orange. The nightmare Met Gala outfit only started there, though.
Massive pink jacket collars sat over a fitted suit that can only be described as the color of rhubarb and custard. The jarring yellows and pinks made me think of boiled sweets from my youth. The floral patterns and silky material certainly made a loud statement.
Alton Mason
With shoulder pads built into his cape that would make David Byrne jealous, it was almost possible to miss Alton Mason's silver eyepatch. This is yet another of the great outfits from the 2025 Met Gala that I couldn't stop looking at.
The cape, made of a beautiful black material, sat a solid foot and a half wider Alton Mason's shoulders. Beneath it, a fitted shiny jacket showed off more chest than expected in heart shape. The lower half, in contrast, was just as shiny, but flowed loosely and ruffled down over the matching heeled boots.
Teyana Taylor
Shoulder pads and capes are certainly the hot topic for the Met Gala 2025 outfit line up. Teyana Taylor showed up wearing the kind of outfit fit for both a Transylvanian castle, and the high rollers entrance of a casino. The flowing, blood red cape made a huge impression, adorned with flowers, and jewels.
Underneath, an amazingly fitted pinstripe suit complemented by her red fedora and matching waistcoat. The whole look was finished off with a cane, an incredible piece of neck jewelry.
André 3000
Alright, Andre 3000, we get it, you're a musician. That doesn't mean you have to let everyone know by wearing an entire grand piano on your back. On the whole, his outfit was quite regular, leaving him looking sharp. But the whole piano strapped to his back kind of distracted from that.
