I Love Snacks With My Beer, Now Pabst Have Streamlined The Process With A Yancey's Fancy Beer Flavored Cheese

When it comes to bar snacks, I have my favorites. Something as simple as peanuts will do, and slices of dried sausage will quickly make a bar one of my favorites. I have to admit, cheese isn't top of my list as a beer pairing, but I wouldn't turn it down. Pabst has teamed up with Yancey's Fancy Cheese to streamline the beer/snack process.

Pabst Blue Ribbon, historically, is oddly familiar with cheese. During the prohibition in the US, the company pivoted their wildly successful breweries to many other functions. No longer allowed to brew beers, some switched to cheese. Pabst produced cheddar, pimento, and Swiss flavors in block and spreadable forms.

Now, they're returning to form with a Pabst Blue Ribbon Yancey's Fancy cheese collaboration. The beer infused cheddar will be coming to supermarkets nationwide.

Yancey's Fancy No Stranger To Flavor

Pabst Blue Ribbon couldn't have chosen a better bed buddy than Yancey's Fancy. Already, their lineup includes many flavored cheeses ranging from ghost pepper cheddar to the wild sounding strawberry chardonnay cheddar. They clearly know what they're doing when it comes to creating Frankenstein cheeses.

But, I have to wonder, will beer infused cheese actually be a nice combo. I love a good cheddar, and the thought of an ice cold beer makes me so excited my hands shake. But, together, I'm still not sold. Beer is a unique flavor that doesn't scream cheese pairing. I've been wrong before though, incredibly.

They tell me that it's a "bold, flavorful cheese that puts a quirky spin on everything—from charcuterie platters and epic grilled cheeses to heartwarming mac and cheese or even a midnight snack straight from the fridge."

I am more than willing to give it a try. They didn't mention eating it grated, by the handful, right out of the bag though, so I will have to test that.

The Yancey's Fancy Pabst Blue Ribbon cheese crossover is experimental for sure. I will be interested to see just what they manage to highlight from the flavor of beer to work alongside a strong flavor like cheddar. My mind tells me that the notes in beer are far too subtle to be noticed under the profile of cheddar. But, the boozer in me is just cheering "beer, beer, beer."
