The Reason Morgan Wallen Ditched The ACM Awards

For an artist as massive as Morgan Wallen, he's strangely averse to industry events. Country Music's breadwinner just cannot be bothered to attend any of these awards shows. In fairness, he's effectively been banned from the CMAs back in 2021 over his racial slur controversy. He couldn't attend those proceedings even if he wanted to.

However, the ACM Awards still gladly include him in the proceedings. Initially, they gave Wallen a slap on the wrist over his racial slur incident by temporarily suspending and removing him from the awards ballot in 2021. But that's seemingly water under the bridge now, especially since they see that he still rakes in the dough for country music. Consequently, they flood Morgan with nominations, even anointing him with the Entertainer of the Year award previously.

Given his status, he could probably afford to win more. His rabid fanbase certainly thinks so, frequently chastising the committee for rewarding Lainey Wilson's hard work. But it doesn't seem like Wallen really cares all that much anyway. He continuously gives the ACM Awards the cold shoulder, no-showing the event numerous times. Now, he's continuing tradition by ditching the prestigious night to go do something else.

Morgan Wallen Passes on ACM Awards to Hang Out With Tom Brady

Recently, the 7 Summers crooner posted on his Instagram stories a little behind the scenes of what he was doing during the ACM Awards. As captured by the New York Post before the story expired, Wallen passes around the football with Tom Brady on a massive golf course. "Had a little mustard on it @tombrady," he captions the photo.

In fairness, Morgan wasn't missing much personally since he lost every category he was up for that night. In total, he was nominated for Entertainer of the Year, Male Artist of the Year, Single of the Year, Song of the Year, Music Event of the Year and Artist-Songwriter of the Year. Only Ella Langley, Lainey Wilson, and Cody Johnson rivaled him. I'm unsure if Wallen will ever get that industry love again, considering his reputation. Moreover, he doesn't seem all that interested in changing that perception either. At least he has Tom Brady.
