Even with Lainey Wilson and all of her success, she still relies on ma dukes in certain situations. Recently, Wilson sat down with Bobby Bones ahead of the ACM Awards where she racked up some hardware once again. It's there that she reveals that her mom may not hold the same musical talent as her but she has a knack for identifying good songs. Consequently, Lainey usually goes to her first when it's time to sort through a list of songs.
I remember even growing up and singing, and my mama could not carry a tune in a bucket, but she would tell and tell me how to sing. It would make me so mad because like 'You can't sing!'" Lainey recalls. "But I will say, when it comes to choosing songs and picking songs, and the ones that I write, I can always trust my mama's judgment. And she will tell me, she will be like, 'I don't think that one is as good as you think it is.'"
