Adam Chaffins Upcoming EP Includes A Hilarious Prophesy That Came True (Exclusive)

Adam Chaffins has a new EP coming out soon, Trailer Trash. And one of the included songs is about a character Chaffins ended up meeting after performing the song live.

Ahead of Trailer Trash, I had the great pleasure of talking to Adam Chaffins about the EP that's releasing on May 16 (mark that calendar!).

Trailer Trash, produced by Frank Rogers (Chris Stapleton, Brad Paisley, Josh Turner, and others), consists of five songs, and Chaffins is "really excited" to release it. Three of the songs are out already, and the audience reception to those singles have been "really overwhelming" for the singer.

After an outrageous amount of replays, I think "Living Till My Dying Day" is my favorite from the EP, but there is another unreleased song that I simply have to talk about.

A great perk of the job is getting to listen to music ahead of release (don't be too jealous, now), and one song stuck out to me in particular: "Dive Bar Moses." I couldn't not bring it up when we were talking. And as it turns out, Dive Bar Moses is a real guy that Chaffins met after penning the song.

I could go on about how awesome the EP is. But I'd rather just talk about this hilarious story that I still can't get over.

Adam Chaffins Met The Real Dive Bar Moses After Performing The Song To Him

Funnily enough, "Dive Bar Moses" turned out to be a prophesy. A prophesy that predicted the real Moses of the dive bars who went up to Chaffins after a show.

Although he's cutting "Dive Bar Moses" now, it's a song he's sat on for years and only performed live.

"I played that song, in Key West, at the Key West's Songwriter's festival a year or two ago," he recalled.

"There's a part in this song that says 'I went to Ho Chi Min, lost a few friends.' And this guy came up to me, man, and he had Ho Chi Min hat on, like he was Dive Bar Moses in real life," he continued.

"He was like, 'Did you say Ho Chi Min? I served there,' and he's like, 'I live down here in Key West, now.'"

Hilariously, Chaffins responded, "You were the muse, my friend."

"It was like a full circle thing, when you create something out of the abyss. I wrote that song with the great writer Bobby Hamrick, and we wrote that song the first day we ever met each other."

Apparently, "That song just fell out" of the sky.

Initially, Chaffins was concerned that he was "overdoing it" with the song. But his fears were dispelled when he met the real guy. "But then when you actually are in the wild and there's Dive Bar Moses, you're like 'Wow, this is the universal full circle coming back around to meet this fella.'"

Oh what I'd give to meet the real Dive Bar Moses. He sounds like a lot of fun if the song's anything to go by.
