Recently, author Edward White spoke to Fox News in promotion of his latest book, Dianaworld: An Obsession. There, the author explores the impact Princess Diana had on monarchy and pop culture alike through a variety of different stories. One in particular see the intensity between actors Richard Gere and Sylvester Stallone nearly come to blows over the princess at Elton John's house.

New Book Details How Two Hollywood A-Listers Nearly Fought Over Princess Diana

The story in the book comes courtesy of Elton John's husband David Furnish. Moreover, it also exists in Elton's autobiography. Still, Stallone vehemently denies the story completely. Regardless, White tells Fox News an abridged version of the entire skirmish over the princess. "[Elton] invited Sylvester Stallone and Richard Gere to a house party that Diana was also at. I mean, it's Elton John, so probably everyone in the room was like an A-list celebrity or a member of some grand European royal family," White recalls.

"According to Elton John, Sylvester Stallone turned up with the intention of picking up Diana, which is wishful thinking in several ways... But he did that," the author continues. "Sylvester Stallone walked in and saw Diana in deep conversation with Richard Gere," White claimed. "He felt that Stallone got angrier and angrier as the evening wore on, because Richard Gere was just dominating. That's how he felt - that he was dominating the conversation with Diana."

Then, the situation climaxes when Stallone squares up with Gere, ready to scrap it out over the Princess. However, the fight gets broken up before it ever really gets the chance to start. White alleges that Diana wouldn't have wanted either of those guys anyway. Still, can't fault them for trying to shoot their shots either. That's royalty after all.
