The Tearful Message That Emmy Russell Sent Loretta Lynn In Heaven

Emmy Russell is the granddaughter of beloved country music icon Loretta Lynn. Lynn passed away in 2022 at the age of 90. It is deeply heartbreaking to lose a family member that you treasure. That seems to be the case with Russell. Per Taste Of Country, "In an emotional new video, Russell leaves a voicemail for her grandmother in Heaven, her eyes welling up with tears as she expresses how much she wishes Lynn could've met her baby girl."

Knowing that someone you were very close to can't be part of those special moments in your life anymore is so hard. Many of us have experienced that awful, irrevocable sorrow. Russell is evidently feeling that sadness and pain now. Her little girl was born three months ago. That precious child will never meet her famous great-grandmother.

"I think you would love her," said Russell in the video. She also said, ""I'm so happy that you're in a place where you don't feel alone and you're just no longer sick anymore. I love you so much. I miss you so much."

The Story Behind Emmy Russell's Poignant Video

Per the outlet, that video is part of a project that Russell is working on. It's a video for a song titled "Phone Call to Heaven." She worked on the tune with Tyler Ward, her musician spouse. He also makes a phone call in the video to someone dear to him who left us - his dad.

Russell invites her fans to make similar "phone calls" to their loved ones who have passed. She and her husband intend to include them in a video.

She Is Making A Name for Herself In The Music Business

Russell is already following in Lynn's footsteps. She was on American Idol as a season 22 contestant. She performed one of Lynn's signature songs, "Coal Miner's Daughter," plus a tune she wrote called 'Skinny." She also performed at the Grand Ole Opry with Lukas Nelson, Willie Nelson's son. They sang together at the hallowed venue in 2022 as part of a tribute to Lynn.

To most of us, Loretta Lynn was a fantastic singer with abundant talent and grace. Last year, when Russell was on American Idol, she spoke of her grandmother in different terms, per People. "She's one of the biggest country music singers of all time, but to me she's just Grandma."
