Morgan Wallen Reveals The Message He Hopes To Give His Son Indigo With 'Superman' From 'I'm The Problem'

Morgan Wallen has a message to his son Indigo with one of the songs on I'm The Problem album, out now. Wallen includes "Superman" on the project, a song Wallen wrote as a message to his four-year-old son, Indigo.

The song begins with, "One day you're gonna see my mugshot / From a night when I got a little too drunk / Hear a song about a girl that I lost / From the times when I just wouldn't grow up." The song directly addresses Wallen's sometimes-troubled past, including his arrest last year after dropping a chair from the rooftop of Eric Church's bar.

"[He is] going hear about it and there's no way around that," Wallen says on Today's Country Radio With Kelleigh Bannen. "Especially at this position that I'm in and that he's going to be in. So that was kind of what I wanted to accomplish, too."

The second verse says, "One day the weight of this cold world's / Gonna find its way down onto your back / One night the wolves will get closer / And you'll be the one they're running straight at," referencing Indigo's father's worldwide popularity and global appeal.

"In the second verse, I wanted to let him know that, 'Hey, everybody ain't nice," Wallen explains. "Everybody don't want your best interest. I'm going to do my best to protect you, but at some point you're going to have to protect yourself.'

"There's a lot of different things that I felt like I was trying to, not only let him know where I fall short," he adds. "But also give him advice, let him know I'm protecting him. I tried to say a lot in that one song just because it's really my only song to him at this point."

Morgan Wallen's 'I'm The Problem' Album

Wallen's I'm The Problem record has an astonishing 37 songs, with Wallen writing 22 of them. Surprisingly, it isn't "Superman" that is the most personal one on I'm The Problem. Instead, that distinction goes to "I Got Better."

"I'd say that's one that really came from my heart, and it can mean many things," he says. "It's not just a song to a girl, it could be a song to anything that's holding you back. That's why I like that song so much. For a long time I had a lot of things holding me back. I've finally said goodbye to a lot of those things, and I'm proud of the results that have come from doing that. So, I'd say 'I Got Better' is my most personal song right now."

Not surprisingly, Wallen broke streaming records with Amazon, Spotify and Apple when I'm The Problem was released.
