The 76-year-old singer made the announcement Friday, stating that recent performances had worsened. Under doctor's orders, Joel is now participating in specialized physical therapy. He has been advised to stop performing until further notice.

"I'm sincerely sorry to disappoint our audience, and thank you for understanding," Joel said in a statement shared via his social media and through his publicist. "While I regret postponing any shows, my health must come first."

Multiple Dates Affected Across North America and Europe

Joel's canceled shows include stops in New York City, New Orleans, Toronto, Santa Clara, Salt Lake City, Washington, D.C., and Liverpool. Fans who purchased tickets will receive automatic refunds.

This isn't the first time the "Piano Man" artist has experienced health-related tour interruptions. In February, Joel fell onstage during a concert at Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. While he quickly recovered and finished the show, the incident raised concerns. A month later, Joel postponed performances through June, citing a medical condition that required supervised physical therapy.

Despite the setbacks, his team remains optimistic. "Joel is expected to make a full recovery," a March 11 press release stated. "The tour will resume at Acrisure Stadium in Pittsburgh on July 5, 2025."

Career Still in Motion

Joel concluded his historic 10-year residency at Madison Square Garden in July 2024 with his 150th show there. Throughout his career, he has sold over 150 million records, landed 33 Top 40 hits, and earned five Grammy Awards. Overall, he's been nominated 23 times. He was inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame in 1999.

Despite the current pause, the legendary performer remains committed to returning. "He is grateful for the support from fans during this time and looks forward to the day when he can once again take the stage," the statement said.

For now, he is focusing entirely on his health and the hope of hearing the roar of a live audience once again.
