Eric Church Says He Has Enough Songs for Another New Album

Who could possibly be against even more music from Eric Church? Sure, he just released a brand new album, Evangeline vs. The Machine, a few weeks ago. It's a smooth, 8-song, 36-minute-long concept record about fighting back against the algorithm in the name of real art. Quality over quantity is always the aim with real artists. But what if you could feasibly do both?

I mean, in 2021, Church released both Heart and Soul, a double album split into two separate records, equating to an hour's worth of songs. Both of those were quality outings from the country crooner. Additionally, most artists keep a vault of songs that make the cutting room floor when crafting their albums. Consequently, it's not impossible for him to release new music if he wanted. Despite Church's tendency to space his releases out across 2-4 years, we might not have to wait much longer for even more new music from him.

Eric Church Teases New Music After Releasing Evangeline vs. The Machine

Recently, the "Hell of a View" singer spoke with Eamonn Kelly for Smooth Country in the UK. There, he explains that a variety of circumstances kept him out of the studio for over 5 years. However, he never exactly stopped writing. As a result, he had a lot of ideas cooking out of his notebook. "We had a lot of songs. I haven't made a record in four or five years," Church says. "Actually, the last time we were in the studio was actually pre-COVID. We were in 2019 and early 2020, and then COVID happened, and we sat on the record we had made for about a year. Then we put it out. So I hadn't been in the studio in almost five years. So a lot of songwriting."

Given the concept he was working with, not everything fit just right for the album. This suggests that he's just sitting on a plethora of records. It doesn't take long for Church to confirm this notion. Maybe we'll get a deluxe to Evangeline vs. The Machine. Or maybe we'll get a looser compilation of unreleased tracks from him. Regardless, we might be a little spoiled from him soon. "Oh yeah... I've got a big stack (of unreleased music). Hopefully, I think so. I don't know what they'll sound like," he teases.
