Morgan Wallen is opening up about his reaction to one of the songs on his I'm The Problem album, out now. Wallen wrote "Superman" as a message to his son, Indigo, about how he will view his father as he gets older.

While performing in London, Wallen revealed that he listened to demo of the song while on a 25-minute drive home.
"I usually listen to the song about seven times during that, depending on how long it is, just to see if I like it," Wallen recalls (via American Songwriter). "The very first time I heard it back after we got through writing it, I just broke down, and I was crying. And that's the first time I had done that writing a song for my little boy. So I figured if it touched me that way, then hopefully it would touch a lot of you guys the same way."
The Story Behind Morgan Wallen's 'Superman'
Wallen has made his own share of mistakes over the years, including his 2024 arrest for throwing a chair from Eric Church's rooftop bar. It's why he wanted to write "Superman."
"[He is] going hear about it and there's no way around that," Wallen says on Today's Country Radio With Kelleigh Bannen. "Especially at this position that I'm in and that he's going to be in. So that was kind of what I wanted to accomplish, too."
The second verse says "One day the weight of this cold world's / Gonna find its way down onto your back / One night the wolves will get closer / And you'll be the one they're running straight at." It's a lyric that acknowledges Wallen's global fame, which also comes with a great cost as well.
"In the second verse, I wanted to let him know that, 'Hey, everybody ain't nice," Wallen says. "Everybody don't want your best interest. I'm going to do my best to protect you, but at some point you're going to have to protect yourself.'
"There's a lot of different things that I felt like I was trying to, not only let him know where I fall short," he continues. "But also give him advice, let him know I'm protecting him. I tried to say a lot in that one song just because it's really my only song to him at this point."
