Rockstar Taime Downe Addresses Fiancee's Cruise Death

Some people grapple with grief in their own distinct ways. For a lot of people, they find it best to work through it despite the whirlwind of emotions. Being too still might cause them to fixate on tragedy. Knowing that life still moves forward is a sobering truth. Consequently, they end up a shell of themselves, unwilling to move forward in life. Someone like Taime Downe, frontman of Faster Pussycat, would much rather keep busy so as to make the pain go down easier.

Recently, the rockstar spoke with Eddie Trunk for Faction Talk on Sirius XM. There, he opens up about dealing with his fiancee Kimberly Burch's death on a cruise ship. They had been engaged since 2022 but she passed away back in March 2025. The pair were headed from Miami to the Bahamas on an 80's cruise before she jumped off the ship and dies. Now, Downe is grappling with the wild feelings that come with such a tragedy.

Taime Downe Reflects on His Fiancee's Death Ahead of His Band's Tour

"It's a roller coaster," he admits. "I'm hanging in there. I'm just taking it a day at a time. And everybody thought going out on the road and doing what I do and being with my family in my band would be good for me. So I've taken their advice and [I'm] doing this."

Trunk expresses his concern for Downe, noting how such immense grief could cause him to spiral back into alcoholism. However, it's proven to have the opposite effect instead. "What happened with Kimberly, too, it was alcohol and prescription-related," Taime says. "So I blame alcohol and pills on it. There's no way I'd touch booze. For me, that's just completely disgusting in my brain, you know what I mean? So I've got some hatred for booze, 'cause I loved the hell out of Kimberly, and it was just hard to deal with. We spent basically nine years together."
