It's extremely important for Dale Earnhardt Jr. to preserve his father's legacy. It has to be incredibly difficult to do, considering how the grief is still omnipresent. Still, he finds it essential to carry on the memory of the Earnhardt name and how foundational they are to where NASCAR is today.

Country music loves themselves some racing too. You can hear scattered references to Dale's old man on different songs as the epitome of the sport. You might think another reminder of what happened with his dad might be a trigger for him. However, he actually appreciates how they push the legacy forward.
Recently, Earnhardt Jr. spoke on another episode of his Dale Jr Download podcast. There, the NASCAR legend responds to a fan question, asking if he's heard Morgan Wallen reference Earnhardt Sr. on "Number 3 and Number 7" with Eric Church. He doesn't say too much about the record explicitly so it's unclear on whether or not he's heard it. Regardless, he always appreciates artists who can push the family name and its legacy.
Dale Earnhardt Jr. Loves When Artists Reference His Father on Records
"I always like it when they talk nice about dad. Anytime he's kind of referenced in a song, I think it's kind of cool. It's a different generation, younger people appreciating his legacy and all that good stuff. It's kind of cool how his legacy has lived on and continues to be kind of something discussed in pop culture," Dale Jr. says.
Additionally, Wallen invokes the name of racing legend Richard Petty on his duet with Post Malone, "I Ain't Coming Back." Similarly, Eric Church just collaborated with John Fogerty to help promote Amazon's new NASCAR footage. Dale Earnhardt Jr. is also a prominent fixture with that record, since he's in the commercial promoting it. Country music loves themselves some NASCAR. Consequently, the Earnhardt name will always live on.
