The Top 5 New Country Music Releases Of The Past Week — Sit And Listen (June 5 Edition)

Here we go, the best new country music of the past week. Every week is a gift, because so many new country tunes come along with it. Well, I've gathered the best ones for your listening pleasure.

If this isn't enough, then you can check out last week's list, too.

Our incredible Spotify playlist now also includes the following songs. So make sure to save it and give it a listen sometime.

It's show time.

Born Runnin' Outta Time

"Born Runnin' Outta Time" by Lukas Nelson is the second time we've featured the artist on this list, but the first time he's got the #1 spot. The moment I pressed play, I knew I was in for a good time.

It's so hard not to bop your head with the symphonic strumming of the guitars and beat of the drums. The hypnotic hits of the electric guitar fill the head as his twangy vocals serenades the cerebrum.

In other words, I'm gonna be running down my own time listening to this beauty. Lukas Nelson is a brilliant country artist that deserves the attention he's getting.

This Ain't You Leaving

"This Ain't You Leaving" by Tayler Holder only narrowly misses the top spot as it hits second place. Although very different in tone, it hits the same strengths of our #1 song this week.

It's a very full song that keeps your brain fully occupied. The heartache country vibes are employed in full force as Holder sings about his inability to hold a good relationship without pushing them away.

A battle for the last goodbye gets told in the form of an absolute banger that I can't stop playing.

Freeway

"Freeway" by The Castellows is as 'country' as you can get. This is my favorite song from the trio's Homecoming EP, as it gets me bobbing every time.

Their harmonies never fail to give me goosebumps. This song, I think, demonstrates their harmony beautifully. It's a great example of why The Castellows have had such an outrageously rapid rise to prominence over the past couple of years.

This song is sweet and simple, which goes a long way when you do it well.

Smoke Follows Beauty

"Smoke Follows Beauty" by Dylan Scott is another full and powerful song on this list. Dylan Scott has breached our lists before, with "I Hate Whiskey."

I'm happy to say that he's outdone himself with his latest single. He's turned his pining heart into music, and he's killed it.

The imagery and metaphors in the song display the deep understanding of his emotions. It's a beautiful song that you need to know about.

Elephant at the Zoo

"Elephant at the Zoo" by Shelby Means from her self-titled album is... weird. In the most wonderful way possible. Out of all the songs on this list, this one really takes you on a journey.

Please, you have to dig in for the long haul with this track. It takes turns you wouldn't expect, both lyrically and musically, in a way that is pure art.

More artists need to be a little less orthodox, like Shelby Means here. It's a brilliant song that is as fun as it is impressive.

Best Country Album — Dive Bar Beauty Queen

Dive Bar Beauty Queen by Ashland Craft is the best country album that's been released this past week. From start to finish, the album is a great time. Ashland Craft never lets the vibe die now as she brings different tastes and flavors to the table.

I struggle to pinpoint songs in particular, as each one can be appreciated individually. That's why it's taken the top spot.

A consistently solid listening experience is difficult to find, but it's something that Ashland crafted.

And just like that, this week's list has been concluded. Make sure to check back next week, where I'll have another five awesome songs waiting for you. Until then, take it easy and enjoy your weekend. Thanks for stopping by.
