Would You Eat A Sandwich With Pickles For Buns?

I'll be honest with you folks. I am a pretty big pickle fan. I love me some relish on my hot dog. If there are pickles on the burger buffet station, they're on my plate. And when it comes to sandwiches, you best believe I'm dropping a few slices of heaven in between the buns. But on the outside of the sandwich? I don't know. Call me cautiously optimistic at best on this one.

Pickles Are The New Carbs?

Call me old-fashioned, but I just don't get the hype. Why are we putting our pickles on the outside of our sandwiches? What happened to good ole' bread? It's such a versatile meat holder. And the variety! I mean, you've got whole wheat, white wraps, potato, pretzel, torpedo, focaccia, and even bagels for breakfast lovers out there.

I don't know, maybe I'm just a hater, but this really feels like a classic situation of, if it ain't broke, why are we fixing it?

But far be it from me to stand in the way of progress. If this is the new wave, then bring on the dill. In case you folks have a tough time visualizing what a pickle sandwich may look like, delish dropped a very helpful tutorial.

Interestingly, they do tell you to scoop out the seeds after cutting the pickle lengthwise. I don't know if I'm the crazy one, but the seeds are an integral part of the texture! Why can't I have a seedful pickle sandwich?

But I digress, this fad really is starting to get legs, which is fascinating.

It's Time For A New Sandwich, Dill With It

It's not entirely surprising that this new sandwich fad has taken off the fastest in the Northeast. The place some might call the sandwich capital of the world. (Me, I'm people, gotta shoutout where I'm from.)

I mean, this has become so popular that even Jimmy John's has gotten in on the action. I'm not saying that's a big dill, but it's kind of a big dill. (Ok, I'll stop.)

Honestly, I think I might just have to go try one of these bad boys for myself.
