How Country Music Saves This One Woman From Getting a Ticket

Country music can be credited with a lot of things, including inspiring relationships, used for wedding songs, funerals and more. But for at least one woman, country music has also gotten her out of more than one ticket.

A TikTokker who goes by the name of Mama Lay reveals that whenever she gets pulled over - which seems to be a frequent occurrence for her - she gets out of a ticket by playing country music!

In a video she posts, Mama Lay shows a cop car behind her, as Luke Bryan's "That's My Kind Of Night" plays.

"Police pulled me over," she writes. "I cut that country music on so fast. Works every time."

Mama Lay captions the video by saying, "Then I enhance my country accent."

Country Music Songs About the Police

Luke Bryan's "That's My Kind Of Night" is a solid choice, there are a few other country songs about the police that might work even better - or worse. Keith Urban released "Cop Car" in 2014, and Brad Paisley included "Mr. Policeman" on his 2007 5th Gear record.

But the best song about the police might be George Strait's "The Weight Of The Badge." Strait wrote the song with his son, Bubba Strait, and hit songwriter Dean Dillon, for his 2019 Honky Tonk Time Machine album.

Strait was inspired to write the song during a ceremony in 2018, when he was named Texan of the Year. One of the officers providing security for the event was talking to Strait's young grandson, Harvey. The officer let the young boy play with his badge, which gave Strait the inspiration for the song.

"I just got to thinking about that," Strait says (via Songfacts). "Because it really wasn't that heavy until you put it on, and then it means, it really gets heavy. So, that was one of those things I thought was a real important message, especially these days and times."

Strait released the video on October 28, 2021, which is National First Responders Day. The video shows police officers, along with firefighters and other first responders as well.
