Two Country Music Icons Informally Team Up To Sing "Who's Your Daddy?" By Toby Keith

When Jelly Roll and Post Malone get together to sing a song, it's really a treat. That was the case recently when these two country music superstars joined forces on the late Toby Keith's track, "Who's Your Daddy?" The two were already acquainted, per American Songwriter. Jelly has toured with Malone after the release of his mega-successful freshman LP, F-1 Trillion. So they decided to get together for a casual rendition of Keith's song minus all the formalities. These two gifted pros didn't need them. They were on fire even without any elaborate studio or concert trappings.

The Story Behind Toby Keith's Playful Tune

"Who's Your Daddy?" appears on Keith's 2002 album Unleashed. The catchy, twangy tune, which is apparently about a pretty young gal and her well-off sugar daddy, made it all the way to the highest spot on Hot Country Songs. Loaded with playful sass and insouciance, the relationship it describes seems more transactional than romantic. The song features lyrics like "I got the money if you've got the honey / Let's cut a deal, let's make a plan / Who's your daddy? Who's your baby? / Who's your buddy? Who's your man?"

Jelly Roll Really Got Into It

He posted on social media about being on tour with Malone. His affection and appreciation come through clearly. "Man, being on this tour with you has been unreal. I have never had more fun in my life. The energy of the people is incredible. You can feel the love reverberate around the stadium every night. And that's a testament to the spirit you embody and what you've done. I am honored to be opening up for you every night, I'm honored to call you brother and blessed to watch you perform every night. The genuine gratitude you have for everything is infectious."

Jelly added, "The world is yours young man, keep kicking its a** for the rest of us. You are making all your fellow outcasts and losers proud Posty. Thank you the opportunity, I don't take it for granted so I laugh, dance and sing from the soul every night."
