"My heart is absolutely broken," McCreery writes on social media on Thursday, July 10. "Yesterday, both my Grandma Janet and my Grandma Paquita passed away. I think I am still in a bit of shock as I type this, but I'm choosing to remember the great memories we all made with both of them."

McCreery goes on to share some of his favorite memories of the two family matriarchs.

"There really are too many to count," McCreery says. "From being on the farm in Elizabeth City or visiting the Outer Banks with Grandma Janet. And then the incredible memories we made at the backyard pool in Pinehurst, all the way to visiting Puerto Rico with Grandma Paquita. Both of them truly taught me what love is all about. I will miss them dearly. If y'all could keep my family in your prayers I'd appreciate it."

Scotty McCreery's Growing Family

McCreery shared a photo of both of his grandmothers at his 2018 wedding to his wife, Gabi, when sharing the news. The couple is already parents to two-year-old Avery, and will welcome their second child this fall.

"That's the real important stuff in life, right? It's been a fun season for us, just kind of gearing up for baby number two," McCreery reflects to American Songwriter. "We're getting Avery prepped and ready. I think he's finally grasping that his baby brother's in mommy's belly. I think he's gonna be a great big brother."

That isn't all McCreery has to look forward to. McCreery is the host of the new monthly radio show, Prime Country With Scotty McCreery, airing on SiriusXM. He also has a new EP, Scooter & Friends, out on July 18. The record includes his Top 15 "Bottle Rockets" single with Hootie & the Blowfish.

"I've just kind of got a lot of hope. I'm thankful," he says. "I'm just kind of walking around with a smile on my face right now, both professionally and personally."
