George Strait recently announced a benefit concert and dinner titled "Strait From the Heart." It is slated to take place on Sunday, July 27, at Estancia at Thunder Valley indoor arena in Boerne, Texas.

Strait is bringing a big crew with him

Strait will be joined by members of his Ace In the Hole Band at the intimate event. Special guests slated to appear include William Beckmann, Ray Benson, Wade Bowen, Dean Dillon, Riley Green, Randy Houser, Jamey Johnson, Kyle Park, and Hudson Westbrook. Proceeds will support those affected by the floods in the Texas Hill Country earlier this month. The show was announced on Strait's social media accounts.

The Country Music Hall of Famer intends "to directly help those impacted by the Texas floods." He also wants to "recognize first responders who saved the lives of countless members of his community."

"The destruction and loss in our community from the recent floods is hard to wrap your head around," Strait said in the announcement. "Our hearts and prayers are with you all. The goal with this event is to raise meaningful, immediate support that can be put directly into the hands of flood victims without delay, while also honoring the first responders that work tirelessly to save lives."

As of the morning of July 14, CBS News reported over 132 people have been confirmed dead since flash floods ravaged Central Texas on July 4. Additionally, the search for the more than 160 missing people was paused due to additional rain and flooding over the weekend.

Strait Has Always Lent a Helping Hand

The "Strait From the Heart" event isn't the singer's first time helping fellow Texans in need. In 2017, Strait joined Governor Greg Abbot in Rockport in the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey. He also created the Vaqueros Del Mar Invitational Golf Tournament with his friend and business partner, Tom Cusick. The event raises money for the Troops First Foundation, which helps wounded servicemen, servicewomen, and their families.

The country music troubadour was honored for his fundraising efforts in January 2018. He was named Texan of the Year by the Texas Legislative Conference, a group of leaders in the Lone Star State.
