Many know Hulk Hogan simply as Hulk Hogan, but his real name was Terry Bollea. When Eric Bischoff visited FOX News Channel's The Story with Martha MacCallum, he made sure to pay credence to the man behind the iconic persona.
Before getting into his feelings about Terry Bollea, Bischoff went over how he found out about the news.
"Martha, I am in shock. It still has not really set in. I learned this morning about his passing ironically while watching Fox News. I'm in Las Vegas and scheduled to shoot interviews with some wrestlers with real American freestyler and I got a text to let me know something was going on and 5 minutes later I was in my room and watching Fox News and got the news. And I have literally been on the phone or responding to texts and emails ever since. It has not truly sunk in yet."
Despite still being in shock, Bischoff was able to pay a beautiful tribute to Terry Bollea as a person rather than a wrestling star.
Terry Bollea Meant A Lot To Eric Bischoff
"One of the things most important to me now at this point is I feel like I knew Terry Bollea," Eric Bischoff said. "He was different from Hulk Hogan. He was kind and generous to a fault. He was loyal. He had a big heart, and until you got to know Terry Bollea, you were overwhelmed by Hulk Hogan."
"And that was his life. But he was one of the kindest and most generous people I've ever met."
Alongside his wrestling, most knew how important his faith was to him. Bischoff also commented on Bollea's commitment to his faith.
"It was an important part of his life," Bischoff said.
"Terry, like all of us, throughout his life, has struggled with his faith and sometimes got closer to it than others. But it was always there. It was always present. Was always a part of who he was. But in the last seven or six or eight years in particular, he really got so much closer to his faith. And he was so proud to go through that baptism. And just embrace his faith to a level that he never really had prior. And it brought joy to him, and I'm very grateful for that."
Although Hulk Hogan was larger-than-life, there is more to Terry Bollea than his wrestling. And that's what has made him so special to so many.
