Mattea was invited to join by fellow Opry member Charlie McCoy, during her performance of "18 Wheels and a Dozen Roses." McCoy approached Mattea while she was singing, holding a bouquet of 18 red roses.

"I'm so sorry to interrupt," McCoy says, handing her the roses. "I want to ask you a question. How would you like to be the next member of the Grand Ole Opry?"

Mattea, visibly stunned, says yes multiple times, as the crowd erupts in applause.

"Oh my gosh," she continues. "And thank you. Oh my gosh. Thank all of you. I just want to take this in, and remember this moment. I'm here to tell you, I will not forget this night. Ever, ever, ever."
