“He Didn’t Know It Was a Breakup Song”: Couple Gets Engaged to a Megan Moroney Breakup Ballad

Over the weekend, Megan Moroney performed her breakup song, “Fix You Too.” A couple got engaged to the song, and this was her reaction.

Over the weekend, singer Megan Moroney headlined the Iowa State Fair. The fair also featured acts like Parker McCollum, Forrest Frank, and Lynyrd Skynyrd. Although much of her setlist included songs off of her album, Am I Okay?, the country singer also performed some songs off of her debut album, Lucky, including a duet called "Fix You Too." For this song, she brought Kameron Marlowe on stage, who sings the duet with her in the studio version of the song.

The song is a breakup ballad, where Moroney and Marlowe sing about having hope for a relationship later on, even when it's not working in the moment. The lyrics of the song are super touching, especially for anyone who's ever had to part ways with someone they thought they were gonna be with forever.

"Maybe we could be something somewhere down the road / And I know that a younger me couldn't tell those green eyes no / But you're a fixer-upper if there ever was / And I need some work myself / To tell you the truth I don't wanna have to fix you too"

It's Not the Song We Would've Chosen, but It'll Do

Despite the song's heartbreaking theme, some audience members wanted to make the moment their own, even if the lyrics didn't quite match the moment. Near the song's end, while Megan and Kameron were still performing, a woman in the crowd got proposed to as Moroney sang the ballad. Confused by the aggressive cheering in the audience, Moroney peeked out into the crowd to find out what had happened. If you were curious about her reaction, the look of joy on the singer's face says it all.

Madison, the girl who got engaged that night, later made a video detailing how her special moment went down. A video from her point of view shows Madison's fiancé kneeling on one knee behind her, waiting for her to turn around. When the people around her start screaming in excitement, Madison turns around to face her boyfriend, and her reaction is priceless.

Although "Fix You Too" probably isn't the Megan Moroney song we would've chosen - heck, "Tennessee Orange" would've fit the moment better- in these types of situations, it's the thought that counts the most. It seems like Madison's got a good one, because according to her, her boyfriend didn't care what song was playing, just that it was one she liked. The new fiancée said, "Apparently, he didn't know it was a breakup song, just that it was the one I was most excited for."
