The event is scheduled to take place on Saturday, December 6, at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.
Jon Pardi Won't Be Performing Alone
Pardi will be the first country artist to perform at the Big 12 Championship. Nelly and Ne-Yo performed at the game in 2023 and 2024, respectively.
However, Pardi won't be alone. He'll be playing with both of the marching bands from the participating schools.
Call it the best of both worlds. Not only will halftime feel like a traditional college football game, but Pardi gets to kick some brass in front of a national audience.
"I'm so fired up to be part of the Big 12 Football Championship game this year — and to be the first country artist to do it makes it even more fun," said the "Dirt on My Boots" star. It's going to be a good time — we're going to give fans an unforgettable show."
On Instagram, Pardi added that he "can't wait to bring a little country to the Big 12 stage."
The Big 12 Championship Is a Great Way for Pardi To End a Great Year
Back in April, Pardi released his fifth album, Honkytonk Hollywood. Critics have called it his most mature project to date, admiring the way he and producer Jay Joyce blend traditional country sounds with Southern rock, 80s anthems, and California country influences. Fans love the touching ballad "She Drives Away," his song about fatherhood.
We asked Pardi how he came up with the album's sound. He replied by sharing with us how he narrowed down the tracklist.
"Tip for everybody doing a record: It's the songs you can't live without, and I guess I couldn't live without these 17 songs," he answered. "We had more in the studio and, you know, it's amazing when you get in, you start working and making songs come to life, some don't fit."
"And these are the 17 that me and Jay came and knocked out of the park."
If you can't wait until December to see Pardi, you can catch him on tour through November 8. Click here to get tickets.
