Luke Combs Got a Huge Surprise Present From This Country Music Icon

Luke Combs must have done a real double-take when he was gifted by surprise with a great big present. It came from one of country music's true modern legends. The look on his face must have been priceless. Per Taste of Country via the Armchair Expert podcast, Combs dished about the lavish gift and who it was from. "[Garth} Brooks bought Combs a Ford Bronco Raptor, but he didn't tell the younger star that the car was on its way." When Combs peered out of his window, he spotted his manager at the wheel of the Raptor.

Combs explained, "This was last Christmas. My wife was out somewhere and I was feeding my son at the dinner table in our house. I'm like, 'Man, why is my manager pulling up in his Bronco?'" The singer was bewildered for a good reason. Brooks picked out the same vehicle that Combs' manager drove. It was even the same hue - space blue.

Luke Combs' Manager Gave Him the Keys

"He comes in and throws me the keys to this thing, and I'm like, 'Are you giving me your car, dude?' He's like, 'No, man, Garth bought you this.'" It sounds as if Combs was practically spluttering with shock!

He added, "I'm like, 'What's...[this is a present] for what? This is a $90,000 car, dude! What are you talking about?" Combs was still mystified. He was puzzled as to why Brooks would even give him such a gift. Both being in the country music industry, they knew of each other, but were not close at all.

What Prompted Brooks' Gift to Combs

Per the outlet, there was an explanation behind the gift. "As it happened, Brooks had bought the car the year before, after Combs performed his song, 'The Beaches of Cheyenne,' at the 2022 Nashville Songwriters Awards Ceremony." Brooks was presented with the Kris Kristofferson Lifetime Achievement Award at the event. Various performers sang tracks that Brooks wrote in his honor.

Brooks was especially impressed with Combs. He posted on X, "I never felt like a songwriter until tonight when @lukecombs sang the [expletive] out of Beaches of Cheyenne! Thank you @NSAIofficial for yet another unforgettable moment in my life and career!! love, g"

Brooks wanted to do something for Combs to show his gratitude. He conferred with the singer's manager Turns out the vehicle was "on hold," so the delivery had to wait. It took a year to reach Combs.

The Two Singing Stars Finally Connected

Combs called Brooks to thank him. Brooks told Combs how grateful he was because Combs attended that occasion and sang as well. Per the outlet, "You could've went out and booked your own show that night, made this much money or whatever," Brooks reportedly said to Combs. What did Combs think? "I was just kind of floored by that, to be honest."
