Meeting your idol, whether it's a sports personality, an actor or actress, or a singer, can be thrilling. Now imagine what a child feels like after they have dealt with a serious medical issue. Then they finally get to visit with their favorite vocalist. That is what happened to a little boy named Sawyer, who is 5.

Per Country Now, "According to his mom, Jessica, Sawyer's health journey began very early on when he was diagnosed with bilateral retinoblastoma, which is a form of cancer in the eyes." Sawyer had chemotherapy, but he lost both of his eyes ro the disease. He now has prosthetics and is cancer-free. One other key fact about him - he loves the music of HARDY.
This Little Boy Always Gravitated to Music, Especially HARDY's
Mom Jessica said per the outlet that Sawyer liked music even as a toddler. He especially enjoyed HARDY and Lainey Wilson's duet on "wait in the truck." In fact, it helped to soothe him during his medical ordeal.
"It was right after his first eye was removed and we couldn't get him to calm down but when the song 'wait in the truck' by HARDY and Lainey Wilson came on, he went completely silent and from then on we started to play HARDY after every surgery or chemo that he had so that he would be happy." The youngster considered HARDY his "all-time favorite country artist."
Getting Sawyer and HARDY Together
A school that Sawyer's granddad went to got the ball rolling. Per the outlet, they "reached out asking to raise money for Make-A-Wish so that [Sawyer] could meet HARDY. Jessica noted it was a 'no brainer for us to say yes.'" Make-A-Wish then did all the legwork to make sure that these two special people got to meet.
The tyke and the singer met backstage. Jessica said, "Anyone who knows Sawyer knows that he is never speechless but in that moment Sawyer was definitely speechless and star struck."
HARDY was excited, too. He explained to the audience, "I got a story to tell. A couple weeks ago I got a call from the Make-A-Wish foundation...they said that there was a kid named Sawyer that wanted to meet me and Sawyer had some complications with childhood cancer and lost his sight."
He Sang a Track That Sawyer Really Likes
Sawyer confided in HARDY that he loves the song "Rockstar." That was all the singer needed to know, He sang it for his courageous young fan. HARDY even declared, "Sawyer, it's for you." The child was elated, smiling and dancing to his favorite tune.
Jessica is so grateful to HARDY and to all those who arranged the unforgettable visit. "We want to say a massive thank you to HARDY alone for his music and giving Sawyer peace and comfort through a 4 year battle!! Sawyer will never stop listening to HARDY!!"
