The Texas-based rapper described the album as his heart and story, "the love, the loss, the heartbreak, the grind."

"I wanted people to feel it all with me, the highs, the lows, the real life that shapes you," he added. "'I Hope You're Happy' is me mixing my urban roots with that country soul, tellin' my story straight up, just me."

What We Know About the Arrest of BigXthaPlug

According to records from the Dallas County Jail, Landum was arrested at 2:20 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 22, on charges of marijuana possession (under two ounces) and unlawful possession of a firearm. The Dallas News reported he was released later that evening.

There was another release party scheduled at a Wingstop in North Texas later that Friday. However, it was canceled. The first 25 fans in line with a receipt for a buy-one-get-one chicken tender purchase from that day would have had a chance to enter.

"Due to unforeseen circumstances, the event will not take place as planned," said Wingstop executive Mark Christenson in a statement. "Wingstop remains committed to bringing late-night flavor and culture to our fans in the future."

BigXthaPlug Just Released a Video With Jelly Roll

It was a big week for Landum. "Box Me Up," his collaboration with Jelly Roll, came out ahead of I Hope You're Happy. Additionally, 'Take Care' had recently been certified platinum. Landum took to social media to credit the team behind 'Take Care' with helping him through a difficult period in his life.

Landum wrote on Instagram, "I questioned my purpose for life. I questioned my goals. I even questioned being on this very earth. Depression and the life of being @bigxthaplug was moving faster than I could ever think of for the first time since I've been [an] artist. I let everything out and put it into this project."
