The singer-songwriter recently tapped Billy Bob Thornton, star of Sling Blade and the television drama Landman, to appear in the video for her latest single, "Bar Star. Turns out Thornton, who is the frontman of his own band, The Boxmasters, was the right guy to embody the "happy hour hero" Faith describes in the single's lyrics.

So What Exactly Is "Bar Star" About?

"Bar Star" is about that one guy who is always sitting at the end of your neighborhood watering hole. You know the one: He's dripping with charisma, and you always love talking to him. However, you probably wouldn't want him watching your kids.

In the song, which Faith wrote with Aaron Raitiere, Tofer Brown, and Tyler Halverson, she puts the song's subject on a pedestal because he's so charming.

The chorus goes:

My baby's a bar star

A damn living drinking work of art

He gets to sipping and he goes too far

But I don't mind it, kinda like it when he goes too far

He's a happy hour hero

He's always getting Keystone

Bless his liver and his honky-tonk heart

'Cause my baby's a bar star

According to a press release, Thornton served as Faith's muse when she wrote the song. She envisioned his personality and style for the character described in the lyrics.

"I wrote this song about Billy Bob Thornton because I literally love him," said Faith. "I've always thought he was so talented, and I've wanted to marry many of the characters he's played over the years...I just had to write about it, and I hope people like this little glimpse into my one-track mind."

Carter Faith's Upcoming Debut Is Shaping Up To Be A Winner

You can check out the video for "Bar Star" below.

From her performance at this year's Stagecoach Music Festival to her catchy single "Grudge," Faith is quickly becoming a country star to watch. She has also performed at the Grand Ole Opry, is touring with Little Big Town, and will support Marcus King and Kelsea Ballerini this winter.

"Bar Star" will be part of Faith's full-length debut, 'Cherry Valley,' which is set to come out on Oct. 3. According to a press release, the songs follow the singer's "journey from her North Carolina hometown to Nashville, with all the heartbreak, triumph and hazy nights in between."
