Hayden Panettiere Is Down for a ‘Nashville’ Reboot: “If It Ain’t Broke, Don’t Fix It”

All six seasons of Nashville are streaming on Netflix starting this week. Many fans are wondering: Is a reboot of the beloved country music drama far behind?

At least one cast member is interested in revisiting the show. When asked by Glamour if she would return to the small screen, Hayden Panettiere replied, "Absolutely!"

What Was 'Nashville' About?

The show, which premiered on ABC in 2012, centered on the relationship between the fictional country singers Rayna Jaymes (Connie Britton) and rising star Juliette Barnes (Panettiere). It also offered a glimpse into the lives of aspiring artists in Music City. There is also plenty of drama to keep you watching.

Nashville had a pretty high pedigree behind the scenes. It was created by Callie Khouri, who also wrote the script for Thelma and Louise and the Julia Roberts comedy Something to Talk About.

But what really brought people to the show was the original music, which was performed by the cast. Producer T-Bone Burnett served as the show's executive music producer for the first season. Some of the cast, including actor Chris Carmack, have gone on to release their own musical projects.

Hayden Panettiere Could Relate to Her Character

Hayden Panettiere added she wasn't sure what a reboot of Nashville would look like.

"I'd have to sit with that question for a second, but if it ain't broke, don't fix it," the actress said. "I've been on shows where the first season was amazing and then the second season really wasn't up to snuff. I feel like Nashville stayed very steady throughout the entire six years, and the storylines just continued to get juicier and juicier. They never ran out of material."

Panettiere continued, "I played a character that had gone through very similar things to what I've gone through in my life. In my life, there's never a dull moment. So in Juliette's life, I expect there to never be a dull moment either."

Panettiere also loved singing on the show. She said, "I think it'd be really fun to be able to get back into the music, too. It was a dream job in that way ...I need to explore my love for music and specifically country music. So yeah, fingers crossed. Where there's a will, there's a way."

Panettiere Can't Wait for Younger Viewers To See the Show

Hayden Panettiere is thrilled that Nashville is now available on Netflix, allowing a whole new generation to discover it.

"I'd be thrilled for a younger generation to be able to see it. There are certain people that were a little bit too young when it first started, but it's a really fun show with amazing human stories," she said. "So I'm hoping that it's really successful and that even people who were fans before get to come back and rewatch it. I'd even like to rewatch it."
