What Is the Deal With Maggie Baugh and Keith Urban?
As we reported last week, before the news of Keith Urban and Nicole Kidman's split was announced, Baugh posted a clip from a recent show on her Instagram account.
The post, captioned, "Did he just say that?" shows the two performing the song "The Fighter." Originally a duet with Carrie Underwood, the song is known to have a personal origin for Urban, as he has stated it was inspired by his relationship with Kidman.
"It's all from a conversation my wife and I had early on in our relationship, that when things get tough, I need to hold her tighter and just try to take care of her," he explained.
"The song is about wanting to heal somebody, wanting to take care of somebody, wanting to protect somebody. It's really like a vow in so many ways."
However, during the performance, instead of singing the original line, "When they're tryna get to you, baby I'll be the fighter," Urban switched it up to, "When they're tryna get to you, Maggie I'll be your guitar player."
As the clip began to make the rounds online, rumors began to swirl about Urban and Baugh. Fans were quick to share their outrage. One person commented, "Why in the world would you post this? Have some class. Or maybe you don't mind having none. And Keith? lost all respect. Sure couples separate but to make this that public. Shame on both of them."
What Does Baugh Have To Say?
Baugh hasn't addressed the rumors about her and Urban. However, the 25-year-old has used her social channels to share a different development.
Specifically, Baugh shared a clip of a new single titled "The Devil Win." Featuring a moody rock riff that sounds straight out of a Western, the song is set to be released tomorrow, Oct. 10.
Baugh has been a rising star in country music for some time, with songs like "Looking at the Sky" helping her amass a dedicated fan base. It seems like she's using her newfound attention to widen that base, as well as letting her music do the talking.
