Las Estrellas Bailan en Hoy is a popular celebrity dance competition, in which celebrities are paired up to perform, much like Dancing With The Stars. Dance pairs are judged, and then also voted on by the audience. The show has become highly popular on Hoy, a Mexican television program that has been running since 1998.  Dorcaz's girlfriend, Mariana Ávila, was going to be his partner for the new dance season.

According to The Guardian, Dorcaz was fatally shot on the way home from a dance rehearsal. It is believed that the incident was an attempted robbery, which ultimately resulted in Dorcaz being shot in the neck.

Authorities have identified four possible suspects, men who were seen fleeing the scene on motorcycles. No arrests have been reported, but footage is currently under review.

Who Was Fede Dorcaz

Fede Dorcaz moved to Spain when he was just 13, but spent the majority of his childhood in Argentina. He began modeling in Spain at the age of 18, which eventually led to his work with luxury brands. In 2023, he transitioned to music, releasing two hit songs, "No Eres Tú" and "Cara Bonita", which climbed the charts on Mexican radio to the Top 10. Last year, he went on tour to 10 cities in Mexico, selling out each venue that he performed at. He was ready to become the country's next live sensation and one of Latin pop's biggest stars.

The television program Hoy wrote Dorcaz and his family a heartfelt message on Instagram, saying, "The HOY family mourns the passing of our friend and colleague, Fede Dorcaz. We join in the grief of his entire family, his parents, and his girlfriend, Mariana Ávila." The TV program went on to say, "Fede leaves a great void in our team. His memory and his passion will continue to inspire us always. Rest in peace, Fede Dorcaz."
