Rob Cole and Austin Gilbert Fought It Out in the Battles
Cole and Gilbert were both on Team [Michael] Buble. In the Battles, they teamed on a song from Blake Shelton called "Honeybee," per People. Buble, 50, ultimately gave his nod of approval to Cole - leaving Gilbert seemingly out in the cold. But not for long.
Cole was overcome with gratitude. Per the outlet, he said, "I never thought in my life I would be here. Thank you guys real much." That left Gilbert. Recognizing his talent and ability, coach Reba McEntire used her save and kept him in the hunt.
McEnire Got Weepy When She Saved Gilbert
The "Fancy" singer, 70, became visibly emotional when she snagged Gilbert for her team. "Austin, you enthusiasm, your big heart, your gorgeous voice. You're a cowboy. I'm so thrilled that you are now a part of Team Reba." She embraced him enthusiastically and he said she made "my dreams come true."
McEntire later clarified what prompted her to retain Gilbert in the competition. "I loved everything about Austin. He had a childlike attitude about him. I just loved his voice. That's why I wanted to steal him. He's going to really do well for my team."
Per the outlet, "Gilbert said, 'I'm going to make you proud ma'am,' to which she responded, 'I don't have one doubt in my mind.'"
Bible Praised Cole, Who Congratulated Gilbert
Michael Buble later explained his choice of Rob Cole, calling him a "country superstar." The "Feeling Good" singer added, "He is a versatile guy. I think he's a real charismatic artist,"
Cole posted about the matchup and its aftermath on Instagram. He wrote, "Nothin fake about this friendship, nor this dudes heart. Couldn't have been a better Battle matchup! #TeamReba got a good one! Super proud to have shared the stage with @austingilbertmusic, and super grateful to continue representing #TeamBuble!"
