Earlier this week, George Strait told fans on social media that he was planning something big for next year.

In the post, Strait shared a vintage poster from the 1999 edition of "The George Strait Chevy Trucks Country Music Festival." The lineup featured Tim McGraw, the Dixie Chicks (before their name change), JoDee Messina, Kenny Chesney, and Asleep at the Wheel.
Fans began speculating what it all meant. Was the "Write This Down" singer going back on tour? Maybe he was teaming up with Tim McGraw? Could he be trying to reclaim that attendance record he lost to Zach Bryan earlier this year?
Finally, we have the answer.
"One Night Only"
George Strait will be teaming up with Cody Johnson and Wyatt Flores for a "one-night only" concert on Saturday, May 2, 2026, at Clemson University's Death Valley. The concert will be performed "in the round."
The caption on the announcement says, "The last time Death Valley hosted a concert was 1999 — and it was George Strait. In 2026, the King returns. Sign up now for early access at georgestrait.com/shows."
In the comments, Flores wrote that he was "honored to be a part of" the event.
How Do I Get Tickets?
You can sign up for early access to tickets now by visiting his website. The presale is scheduled for Monday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m. Eastern time. Tickets for the general public go on sale on Friday, Oct. 31, at 10 a.m. Eastern time.
If there's a lesson we've learned this week, it's to sign up for the presale now. Alan Jackson fans sadly found this out the hard way when trying to snag a ticket for his final concert in Nashville. Here's hoping things go smoother for Strait's show.
George Strait Probably Won't Break Bryan's Record
A Google search revealed that Clemson's Memorial Stadium can fit only 81,500 people. However, the stadium's attendance record is 86,092, set when the Clemson Tigers faced Florida State. The attendance record set by Bryan is 112,000 fans at Michigan Stadium in Ann Arbor, so it's doubtful Strait will reclaim the title he set at Texas A&M's Kyle Field when he performed for 110,905 people.
George Strait last performed at Clemson in 1999 for his music festival, which was featured on the poster he shared on Instagram earlier this week.
