Bach's co-star from The Dukes of Hazzard, Ben Jones, was quick to update fans on Bach's well-being in a statement that has since been taken down. Jones played Cooter Davenport, while Catherine played the infamous Daisy Duke. Alongside his wife, Alma, Ben Jones shared with social media on Thursday:
"Breaking news! Our dear Catherine Bach has just been admitted to the hospital in Los Angeles on an emergency basis. Catherine has an embolism that probably developed as a result of a recent surgery. We will keep you posted, and Catherine will share her story as soon as she is recovered. She is so, so sorry to have to cancel her appearance at Cooter's this weekend. Please keep her in your thoughts and prayers. Love, Ben and Miss Alma."
John Schneider, who played Bo Duke on the show, made sure to inform fans that he was checking in on his ex co-star as well. "Attention Dukes of Hazzard family!! I just texted Catherine, and thankfully, she responded right away." He told
Facebook, "Yes, she is in the hospital, but she assures me that she is going to be fine."How Catherine Bach Became a Fashion Icon With "Daisy Dukes"
Catherine Bach gained notoriety from her role as Daisy Duke on The Dukes of Hazzard, a TV show that ran on CBS from 1979 to 1985. Her portrayal of Daisy launched Bach into the fashion world unexpectedly when she chose to cut shorts from a pair of jeans. Originally, her outfit called for a poodle skirt, but Bach felt that short shorts fit Daisy better. She decided to wear them on set, and the rest is history. "Daisy Dukes" became a worldwide sensation, making Bach a sex symbol in the process.
It seems however, that Catherine thought of Daisy as much more than that. In an interview with Fox News, Bach spoke highly of her iconic role. "Whatever [Daisy Duke] did, she could shoot better, drive better, do everything better than a guy. Whenever the guys were in trouble, she stepped in. She wasn't acting tough, she just was."
Bach, 71, was scheduled to make an appearance at Cooter's Place in Nashville this weekend. These appearances have since been canceled.
