Recently, we celebrated Veterans' Day, which honors those who have served in the US armed forces over the years. Lots of celebrities have shown their support for our veterans and those in active duty by embarking on USO tours, which often include performances and meet-and-greets. Carrie Underwood, who embarked on one of these in 2006, posted a throwback on her Instagram to celebrate the holiday.

The photo, which showcases Underwood talking with US Army men in Iraq and Kuwait, is captioned with a heartfelt message. 'Throwing it back this Veterans Day,' Underwood wrote. 'Thank you to all who have served for your courage and dedication in protecting our freedom.'

Not only through USO tours, but also through donating to organizations like ACM Lifting Lives and Tunnel to Towers. For her 2022 Demin and Rhinestones Tour, Underwood ensured that $1 from every ticket sold went to Tunnel to Towers. The Foundation is unique, with its mission being that it provides mortgage-free homes to the families of fallen first responders.
In an interview with People, Underwood expressed her deep admiration for those in the military. "I know in a small way what it's like to just be away from your child because you're working, and it's a completely different kind of work," she shared. "They're laying their lives on the line, and they're away for long periods of time."
She continued, saying, "I'm even more appreciative for the service that they've provided our country because I know what it's like to be a parent and miss your child just a little bit."
Mark Wahlberg Says He "Jumps at the Opportunity" To Support US Veterans
Carrie Underwood wasn't the only celebrity eager to recently show support for veterans. Mark Wahlberg, who has also made various USO visits over the years, and supports organizations like Tunnel to Towers. On his Instagram story, he posted a photo of himself visiting soldiers at Fort Benning back in 2018. He shared in the post, 'You know, any chance I get an opportunity to go thank our brave men and women who serve our country, I jump at the opportunity.'
The Oscar nominee, who has frequently partnered with the Wounded Warrior Project, spoke more on this in an interview . 'For me it's a sacrifice to have to go and be away from my family, but I get to go home quite often and some people don't ever go home. To risk that for our beautiful country is an amazing thing and everybody should be thanking them as often as possible.'
