Macaulay Culkin Legally Changes His Name, Teases a 'Home Alone' Legacy Movie That Has Me Chomping at the Bit

Macaulay Culkin allowed fans to choose his middle name in 2019, and recently excited Millennials everywhere by teasing a 'Home Alone' reboot

If you're a fan of 90s movies, you may remember the Tim Allen movie Jungle 2 Jungle. Some of that film is set on a remote island called Lipo Lipo as it's a place "so nice, they named it twice." Well, it would appear that Macaulay Culkin's fans feel the same way about him...

In 2018, the Home Alone star ran a poll allowing his fans to select his new middle name. And those fans delivered with a unanimous verdict. With Culkin being a man of his word, he has now changed his legal name to "Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin."

"The final vote was Macaulay Culkin," he told his fans in 2019. "So my name is Macaulay Macaulay Culkin Culkin. If somebody comes up to me at the airport and says, 'Excuse me, are you Macaulay Culkin?' I can say, 'Well, Macaulay Culkin is my middle name.'"

At least no one can accuse him of being a spoil sport!

Culkin has since legally changed his name to become the living embodiment of "so nice they named it twice."

Macaulay Culkin Has an Idea for a 'Home Alone' Legacy Movie

Every Christmas, Home Alone becomes a staple in millions of households. Not just the first movie, either. The second one, Home Alone: Lost In New York, totally holds up.

Culkin is currently on his  'A Nostalgic Night with Macaulay Culkin' tour. During a recent stop, he addressed the idea of a legacy movie for the famed Christmas franchise. He then proceeded to share a potential pitch for how the movie could look.

"I kind of had this idea," Culkin said. "I'm either a widower or a divorcee, I'm raising a kid and all that stuff. I'm working really hard and I'm not really paying enough attention and the kid is kind of getting miffed at me and then I get locked out. [Kevin's son] won't let me in... and he's the one setting traps for me."

Culkin's pitch solves multiple issues with trying to get a reboot off the ground. As Joe Pesci, 82, who played Harry and Daniel Stern, 68, who played Marv, are far too old to reprise their original roles.

Nevertheless, sometimes it's wise to leave things alone. The Home Alone franchise ran too long in the first place. Bringing it back for another run, with or without Culkin, won't provide the same nostalgic feelings as its predecessors.

Still, if the movie does get the green light, you can bet it will be a box office hit. Assuming it's released near Christmas, of course.
