"It is with deep sorrow that we share that on the morning of November 25, 2025, Ethan Browne, the son of Jackson Browne and Phyllis Major, was found unresponsive in his home and has passed away," Jackson wrote.

Ethan's mother, Phyllis, tragically passed away in 1975 after committing suicide.

Ethan was formerly a model. He appeared in multiple campaigns for Isaac Mizarhi while pursuing an acting career, including the 2004 Kate Hudson movie "Raising Helen," and also appeared in the 1995 flick "Hackers."

The cause of Ethan's death is yet to be revealed by the L.A. County Medical Examiner. It's likely there will be an investigation into the root cause, which will take some time to conclude.

Being a Father Was Jackson Browne's Main Focus

Jackson Browne doted on Ethan and his other son, Ryan. During an interview with Tru Rock Revival in 2021, he explained how being a father is his "main focus," despite his highly respected career within the music industry.

"Well, it was my main focus," Jackson said. "I only had two things that I hoped I could fit together: being a songwriter and a father. And I looked at it like this, if I have to only be a father, I hope I'll know it, and just do that."

Jackson, who was inducted into the American Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2004, rose to fame in the 70s. His album "Running on Empty" was a major hit, allowing him to step into the limelight after years of writing hit songs for others around the industry. He balanced fatherhood with his music career well and has been present in both Ethan and Ryan's lives.

However, following the tragic loss of his son, Jackson will undoubtedly crave some privacy. He requested as much in the statement announcing Ethan's death.

"We ask for privacy and respect for the family during this difficult time. No further details are available at this moment."

Hopefully, he gets the space he needs and deserves. Hopefully, that will allow him to find the space he needs to grieve such a monumental loss.
