“Is There a Life After This?”: Garth Brooks Prepares To Release the Final Part in 'Anthology' Series

Garth Brooks wonders what lies for him after music. The 63 year old got vulnerable talking about the final part in his Anthology series.

In a livestream on December 1, country music legend Garth Brooks hopped on to promote his upcoming project, the last piece in his Anthology series. The 63-year-old also got honest about what life after music looks like, even though he's said he would never use the word "retire" again.

"Is there life after this?" He said, "Only God and the people know that."

Garth Brooks notoriously retired from music at 38 in October 2000. His main reason for putting a stop to such a successful career? He wanted to take time to be a father to his three daughters, at least until they turned 18. In 2014, as promised, when his youngest daughter, Allie, graduated from high school, Brooks announced a full-scale return to touring.

It was then that he embarked on a world tour with his wife, Trisha Yearwood, which would last three years and break all his old touring records. His Anthology series, broken into six parts, details Brooks' comeback story and shares special songs from each phase of his return to the spotlight. The sixth part, The Comeback: The Next Five Years, will be available to fans on December 5.

He said of Part 6, "Anthology 6 might be my favorite in a way that I think it pays more tribute to the people that actually are Garth Brooks." Fans can expect to hear more about the crew and team behind the artist, rather than just Brooks alone.

Brook's Youngest Daughter Inspired His Move Back to Tennessee

Before his 2014 retirement, Garth Brooks had built quite a career for himself. A five-time entertainer of the year, Brooks had watched all of his nine albums go Diamond with the RIAA, and even earned himself the title of "Artist of the 90s." In an interview with Billboard, Brooks shared that it was his youngest daughter who inspired him to get things going again.

It was Allie's decision to attend Belmont University in Nashville that made Brooks think about moving back to Music City.

He shared, "My daughter, our youngest, came to us at the beginning of her junior year [in high school] and she said, "Dad, I really think I want to go to Belmont [University in Nashville], where Miss Yearwood went to school." That was it, because we were going to spend the rest of our lives in Oklahoma." Brooks had moved to Oklahoma to focus on family. "I'm sitting there going, "Holy cow, she wants to go to Nashville. This might be the perfect opportunity to move back with her."

He reflected on jumping back into a different industry than the one he started in. Somehow, Brooks managed to finnesse both, and he talked about the mindset that made that possible. "The business has changed, so my thing is just focus on the things you can control and the people will decide what they want to see happen."
