'The Voice' Winner Stays Centered Amidst Hoopla Associated With His Win: "It's Been a Lot To Take In"

Winning the top prize on a national TV singing competition like American Idol or The Voice is a great feat. Each season, budding vocalists vie for the crown and the juicy perks that go with it. But if you have never been in the limelight, it can be disorienting as well. The money, attention, career opportunities, and eager fans might be heady - or a headache.

Aiden Ross, the talented young Texan who just won Season 28 of The Voice, is only 20 years old, but he has his objectives and priorities straight. With some help from his The Voice coach Niall Horan, Ross is ready to stake his claim to fame. He is unfazed and unruffled. After reportedly viewing The Voice since boyhood, it's finally Ross's turn to shine.

Per Parade, he said, "It's been a lot to take in. It's almost like my subconscious when I was on that stage for the finale, it didn't know how to process it. I'd never experienced anything like that before. It was such a new territory. But it was incredible, and I'm incredibly thankful."

What Ross Is Doing Now

Ross, a Texas A&M student, already has a single out. (By the way, he isn't skipping his engineering studies. He intends to combine them with making music.) "I have one song out right now called Everything and More, but a new song will be coming out within the month, I think, so stay tuned." He sounds busy. Although the first prize does not come with a recording contract, Ross "is [in] talks with labels about getting signed," per the outlet.

He knows exactly the type of sound that he wants to project. "I feel like there's a hole in the industry for a Lizzie McAlpine-Olivia Dean-type male...I think my music speaks to that. There's something hopeful and honest about it that I think will really excite people."

He and Niall Horan Bonded

Seems like the two are close. Ross confided, "Niall has been in my corner throughout this whole process. It's less about reaching out and being like, 'Hey, what are you going to do,' and more so a relationship thing. He's been like a mentor and a big brother to me. And I'm really excited for our future together. You will definitely see more of me and Niall together in the future, I can tell you that."
