Shania Twain Won a Viral TikTok Trend by Referencing This Hit 1998 Song

Shania Twain referenced her song "That Don't Impress Me Much" in this viral TikTok trend, and we have to admit, she killed it.

Shania Twain just partook in this viral TikTok trend, and it might be the best take we've seen so far. Lately, on TikTok, there's been a trend where people share an experience from their 20s. They follow this by telling those currently in their 20s that it is essential they also partake in it.

The "experience" could be anything that's impacted that person's life, from saying yes to a first date to making an important career decision. For Twain, the experience she chose happened to tie into one of her biggest hits.

In her video, she wrote, "In your 20s, a man will ask you if you're impressed. It's very important you reply that don't impress me much." The caption below that read, "And I will never be impressed."

In case you didn't catch that, her spin on the trend is a direct reference to her song, "That Don't Impress Me Much". The song is one of the singles off her album, Come On Over, which earned Twain two titles. Best-selling studio album by a female artist of all time, and the best-selling country album in history.

Twain accomplished this feat by releasing Come On Over as a country album and as an "international" version, which replaced many of the original country elements with poppier ones. This was truly unlike anything that had been done before. And it allowed Twain to dominate both pop and country.

Shania Reveals That Brad Pitt Inspired "That Don't Impress Me Much"

Written by Shania and her then-husband producer Mutt Lange, "That Don't Impress Me Much" was actually inspired by a scandal Twain saw on TV, involving '90s star Brad Pitt. Turns out, Twain was baking Christmas cookies with a girlfriend when news broke involving leaked naked pictures of Pitt and Gwenyth Paltrow.

"I just thought, 'I don't know what all the fuss is about,'" she told People. I'm like, 'Well, that don't impress me much. I mean, what is all the fuss? We see people naked every day.' I wasn't picking on Brad Pitt. But that was just the association in that moment... of course, it could have been any gorgeous guy."

This led Twain to write the hit, which talks about the reality of dating men who are, well, just a little too into themselves. "That Don't Impress Me Much" went on to peak at No. 7 on the Billboard Hot 100.
