The event curator from Atlanta was an early favorite to win the 27th edition of the show. She took over as Head of Household in Week 2. However, she began turning on her allies. That led to her being put up for eviction three weeks in a row.
Because she won safety in the Block Buster and Veto competitions, Lee was safe in her first two eviction attempts. But after 59 days, she was voted out, finishing in 10th place.
Now, Lee's fans and fellow Big Brother housemates are coming together to support her during a very challenging time. The 35-year-old is currently in the ICU and in critical condition after experiencing a series of cardiac arrests. The details are below.
What Happened to the 'Big Brother' Star?
According to a post on Lee's Instagram page, she "recently suffered a series of cardiac arrests following complications from the flu and is now in the ICU in critical but stable condition."
The caption added, "She has been surrounded by medical professionals and loved ones, but the road ahead will be long and challenging."
The caption includes a link to a GoFundMe to help Lee cover hospital bills and recovery costs.
"Mickey has touched so many lives through her courage, bold personality, and unforgettable presence on 'Big Brother'," the page reads. "Let's show her the same love and support now when she needs it most.
What Will the Money From Mickey Lee's Fundraiser Be Used For?
The funds raised by the GoFundMe are intended to help pay for Lee's ongoing medical treatments. They will also be used for specialist care in the ICU, rehabilitation and recovery support, and to provide her family with needed assistance for lodging and travel during her recovery process.
At this time, the page has raised nearly $24,000 of its $40,000 goal.
Her fellow Big Brother contestants, including Jimmy Heagerty, Lauren Domingue, and Zach Cornell, have shared their support for Lee during this difficult time.
