Anything Yellowstone-related is usually wildly successful and popular. The Western-themed TV franchise reflects the wizardry of Taylor Sheridan. His instincts for what viewers want are always on the money. There is an eagerly-awaited spinoff in the pipeline starring actor Luke Grimes, who returns in the role of Kayce Dutton. That show has reportedly had a sudden title change, per Us Weekly.

It was originally known as Y: Marshals. Now, however, that has been revamped a bit. It's been altered to Marshals. The drama is slated to begin airing on CBS on Sunday, March 1.

What Will 'Marshals' Be About?

Kayce Dutton is a member of the powerful Dutton family portrayed on Yellowstone. He is a former Navy SEAL who inherited the massive family ranch from his dad, the late John Dutton. He is intense, driven, loyal, impassioned, and unable to put his military experiences behind him. Kayce deeply and sincerely loves his wife, Monica, and their son, Tate. They both define his world.

In Marshals, he opens a brand new chapter in his life. Kayce is now a U.S. Marshal bringing his military background and innate sense of justice to bear in a demanding role serving the citizens of Montana.

Other actors in the show include Logan Marshall Green, Tatanka Means, Ash Santos, Arielle Kebbel, and Brett Cullen. According to the outlet, it is unclear if actress Kelsey Asbille, who portrayed Monica in Yellowstone, will be on Marshals. She "has yet to be announced as a cast member."

Grimes Gave Some Hints About the Series a Few Months Ago

In an interview for Country Living in mid-2025, Luke Grimes dropped a few tantalizing hints about what Marshals would be like. He could not disclose too much at the time. However, Grimes made it clear that this would not be a predictable extension of Yellowstone.

He said, "I think right off the bat, everyone's going to understand that this is going to be a very different show and a very different version of Kayce—and maybe not the version he had in mind—but it'll open the door for a lot of really interesting storylines."
