Miranda Lambert Explains Why She Was Nervous to Perform Daytona 500

Miranda Lambert admitted that she was feeling nervous before headlining the pre-race show ahead of the Daytona 500

On Sunday, Feb. 15, Miranda Lambert headlined a concert to kick off the Dayton 500 pre-race show. Before taking to the stage, Miranda held a news conference with NASCAR and the media. She admitted that the Daytona International Speedway, which holds 101,500 people, is one of the biggest stages she's performed on.

As such, Miranda humbly admitted to carrying some nervousness about the performance.

"I mean, I think this would be one of the biggest stages, now that you mention it... thanks for making me nervous," she joked. "Yeah, it's just incredible, the amount of people here. But you know what, coming in here, it feels like... these are my people. Everybody was tailgating, it kind of felt like a concert already, you know what I mean? Everybody's in a good mood, it's a celebration, and it's going to be a fun day."

For someone as talented and experienced as Miranda, she undoubtedly crushed the opportunity and got the Daytona 500 off to an amazing start. However, performing in front of a crowd is always a daunting task. So, when that crowd is predicted to be more than 100,000 strong, you can understand why nerves would have been part of the overall experience.

Miranda Lambert Crushed Her Ella Langley Cover

As part of her set at the Daytona 500, Miranda produced a cover of Ella Langley's "Choosin' Texas."

The three-time Grammy winner addressed the crowd before performing her rendition of Langley's song.

"I had the privilege of writing and producing one of my new favorite songs by Miss Ella Langley," Lambert said. "It's called 'Choosin' Texas' and... I thought we'd sing it together today."

It's worth noting that Miranda has helped produce Langley's upcoming Dandelion album. And, of course, she worked with Langley,  Luke Dick, and Joybeth Taylor in writing "Choosin' Texas," which, to date, has become Langley's most successful song yet.

As the saying goes, collaboration is better than competition. So, seeing Miranda help lift up another star in the country music industry on such a big stage, is a testament to her collaborative approach to making music and wanting to see others succeed.
