Dayton Webber has been accused of fatally shooting a man while driving in Maryland.
According to the Charles County Sheriff's Department, the shooting took place on the evening of March 22, 2026.
Dayton Webber accused in fatal Maryland shooting
Webber, 27, of La Plata, Maryland, allegedly shot and killed a front seat passenger after an argument escalated inside the vehicle.
Charging documents state that Webber shot Bradrick Michael Wells twice in the head.
Authorities say Webber then pulled over and asked other passengers in the car to help remove Wells' body.
The witnesses, who all knew each other, refused and left the scene. Webber then drove off with the victim still inside the vehicle.
Shortly afterward, those witnesses flagged down officers from the La Plata Police Department and reported what had happened.
Hours later, a resident called 911 after discovering a body in a yard. Authorities later confirmed the victim was Wells, who was pronounced dead at the scene.
"Detectives from the Charles County Sheriff's Office obtained a warrant for Webber's arrest, and located Webber's car in Charlottesville, Virginia," a police
statement read. "Webber was found at a nearby hospital seeking treatment for a medical issue."Arrest made as league responds to serious allegations
After receiving medical treatment, Webber was arrested by officers from the Albemarle County Police Department.
The Charles County Sheriff's Office confirmed that Webber "is awaiting extradition to Charles County where he will be charged with first-degree murder, second-degree murder, and other related charges."
Webber's story had previously been one of resilience. He became a quadruple amputee at just 10 months old after a bacterial infection left him with only a three percent chance of survival.
Despite those odds, he went on to build a name for himself in cornhole, a sport in which players throw small bags of dried corn at a raised wooden platform with a hole.
The American Cornhole League has since acknowledged the situation.
In a statement, the league said it is aware of the "extremely serious matter" but declined further comment while the investigation remains ongoing.
