St. Louis Cardinals infielder Masyn Winn was involved in a car crash hours after his first walk-off hit on Wednesday against the New York Mets.

The 24-year-old shortstop was driving along Interstate 64 near St. Louis at the time of the single-car crash, the Cardinals said in a statement, according to Fox 2 Now.
"We are grateful that he is OK, and thank the first responders in our community who helped Masyn tonight," the team said.
Winn was driving alone at the time of the incident and was helped by both police officers and officials from the Cardinals' security and medical staff.
The Cardinals star was transported to a hospital for evaluation, but was later released after no serious injuries were found.
Wet pavement was ruled the cause of the collision, according to the report.
Winn is a Future Star in St. Louis
For the Cardinals, Winn leaving the crash relatively unharmed is also a major sigh of relief.
The former second-round draft pick is budding into a franchise player.
Last season, two-way star consistently flashed fancy leather to win the Gold Glove award at shortstop. The Cardinals infielder received his trophy for the achievement at the Cardinals home opener.
"This is amazing. I'm grateful to have [this award]," Winn told reporters. "It's a dream come true."
