Popular Chicken Nuggets Recalled Nationwide Over Life-Threatening Contamination

The contaminated chicken nuggets were found to have been distributed nationwide before being sold. The USDA is concerned.

Check your freezers, because very popular chicken nuggets have been recalled over possible lead contamination. As reported by WXYZ Detroit, Walmart own brand Great Value dinosaur-shaped chicken nuggets have been recalled.

The US Department of Agriculture's Food Safety and Inspection Service announced the recall earlier this week. While the products are no longer being sold, the products had been sold for a while before the lead contamination was found. The chicken nuggets were found to have been contamianted during routine surveillance sampling by a state partner.

The Food Safety and Inspection Service revealed that the specific dino nuggets were produced on Monday, February 10, 2026. They said the specific items in question were "29-oz. plastic bags containing approx. 36 'GREAT VALUE FULLY COOKED DINO SHAPED CHICKEN BREAST NUGGETS'".

The best by date of the contaminated nuggets is February 10, 2027, with a lot code of 0416DPO1215 and an establishment number of P44164. The worrying part is that the Food Safety and Inspection Service suspects the nuggets were distributed nationwide.

Obviously, if you do end up having these nuggets in your freezer, do not eat them. Lead contamination is really dangerous and can lead to real problems.

This Comes After Other Recalls in the Past Few Weeks

As we reported back on March 30, there have been many other recalls recently.

A popular foccacia bread as well as a ready-to-eat pizza manufactured by a North Carolina based company was subject to a similar recall. Bakkavor, the company behind the products, reported that the items may contain metal fragments.

The worst part? The ready meals were distributed by popular meal distributor HelloFresh. According to the Daily Mail, "2,337 cases of delivery meal kit service HelloFresh's basil pesto and mozzarella pizza" were potentially affected.

As well as this, almost 24,000 cases of roasted tomato and parmesan focaccia bread were possibly contaminated. This bread was sold under different brand names, like Harris Teeter, Fresh & Simple, and Trader Joe's in 10 states, including Texas and Florida.

We hope that the recalls for all of these contaminated items goes smoothly, and no one gets hurt.
