But the relationship didn't last.

Speaking on The Crew Has It, Fetty Wap opened up about the decision. He explained that it was rooted in loyalty and a promise made before his rise to fame.

Fetty Wap's Million-Dollar Promise Leads to Lost Friendship

According to the 34-year-old, the friend had supported him financially in the early stages of his career. The friend helped lay the foundation for his eventual breakout success.

"First million dollar check, had it in my hand, the one I gave it to, never speak again. I've never seen it yet. Yeah ain't ever seeing it," Wap said.

"Like yeah, because that was my promise on him because he put all the money up for us to really get lit."

The "Trap Queen" rapper explained that the money came in two separate $500,000 checks. Both of which he handed over without hesitation.

For Wap, it was about honoring his word. But despite that loyalty, the friendship eventually faded.

He added that "I never seen it," referencing both the money and the relationship.

Rapper Reflects on Loyalty and Life Lessons

Despite how things unfolded, Wap insists he holds no resentment. Instead, he views the situation as a lesson learned.

"I didn't have to do nothing but it's just being loyal," he said. "I don't fault nobody... we both just ain't really know too much."

"By the time we got that money, bro, we was good. I knew that million was gonna come again regardless. I ain't think about it like that, I keep my word. If I say I'ma do something, I'ma do it."

The rapper has faced significant challenges in recent years. In 2023, he was sentenced to six years in prison on charges of "conspiracy to distribute and possess controlled substances."

He was released in January 2026 after serving three years.

Since then, Wap has returned to music, releasing his fourth studio album Zavier on March 27, 2026.

He is currently on his Official Welcome Home Concert tour. It began on April 4 in Montclair, New Jersey, and includes stops in Hartford, Albany, and Stroudsburg.
