Popular Rice Recalled Over Foreign Material Concerns

The popular brand of rice is sold in popular grocery chains such as Walmart and Target. The foreign material was not identified.

A very popular brand of white rice has faced a recall over the possible presence of a foreign material. As reported by KCCI 8 Des Moines, the brand of white rice is sold at large retail chains such as Walmart and Target.

The grocery chain Wegmans has issued the recall notice for the Lundberg Family Farms' organic jasmine white rice. This notice followed another voluntary recall of 4,500 cases of the white rice.

More specifically, the recall notice has stated that two-pound bags with the UPC code 073416-040281 are affected. People who have purchased the rice should look for lot codes 260201 and 260202, with best by dates of February 1 and 2, 2027.

The recall says that there may be a presence of a foreign material. This material could cause "temporary or medically reversible health effects", according to the outlet. But, the recall notice wasn't specific about what the exact material is.

Wegmans specifically is offering full refunds for the products that have been recalled. But other retailers such as Target and Walmart haven't recalled the items yet. This means that customers who have bought it from there may not get a refund.

Luckily, no injuries or illnesses seem to have been reported from the jasmine rice thus far. Here's hoping it stays that way.

This Comes After Another Worrying Recall

But, this isn't the first worrying recall this month. As we reported back on April 6, popular gas station Wawa issued a recall of their popular 16oz drinks.

The drinks included Wawa's brand of Iced Tea Lemon, Iced Tea Diet Lemon, Diet Lemonade, and Fruit Punch. More specifically, the recall affected these drinks that were sold in certain states. These drinks were being sold in certain stores in pennsylvania, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, and Virginia.

Wawa explained that they had identified an equipment issue that may have caused an "undeclared milk allergen" in the drinks. This is particularly dangerous as people with dairy allergies could have "serious or life-threatening" allergic reactions.

But, fortunately, no illnesses were reported from the drinks. And Wawa has said that the products have been disposed of.
