'Yellowstone' Star Says Fans Are Upset He's Not Cowboy Enough in Real Life

Luke Grimes is a bona fide star. There is no doubt about that. The actor skyrocketed to fame on Yellowstone as Kayce Dutton; now he revisits the popular role weekly on the CBS spinoff hit, Marshals. Grimes is turning up everywhere, even in the video for Ella Langley's smash hit, "Choosin' Texas." So what's not to like, right? Well. some purists think that he is not authentically cowboy enough in real life. Spurs and a saddle on a TV series set just won't do it for them.

Grimes Grew up in Ohio

To be fair, Luke Grimes is from Dayton, Ohio. He was not evidently reared on a ranch. And he seems to be quite at home on the set acting the part of a ranching dynasty scion turned U.S. marshal and widower. Nevertheless, that may not be authentic enough for the die-hards.

Not every actor lives the life they portray on screen. Nevertheless, great acting handily overcomes that. And Marshals has definitely found favor with viewers. It has already been renewed for another season. Guest stars like country music sensation Riley Green and Adam Sanders from The Road don't hurt, either!

Fans Grumble When They Realize What They See on TV Is Make-Believe

Sometimes people can get very emotionally invested in the characters and stories they watch each week. It's a letdown when they find out it's all a fantasy. Luke Grimes talked frankly about that when he was a guest on CHUM 1045.

He shared, "It can be a mix of things. I think people loved that show [Yellowstone] so much that they were on a certain level upset that it wasn't real. Like, they were so obsessed... a lot of times, you'll get the like, 'You're not a real cowboy,' thing." Grimes then added, "Well of course I'm not, that's why I'm able to do this. If I was a real cowboy I'd be herding cattle right now, I wouldn't be on the show."

What comes from Hollywood is an illusion. A glorious, artfully-crafted mirage. There is no Wizard of Oz or Superman or Vivian and Edward in Pretty Woman. However, it's fun to pretend there is. Even just for a couple of hours.
