Oregon Burglary Suspect Arrested After Flipping SUV During Police Chase

An Oregon burglary suspect saw a deputy and decided to speed off. Following the chase, he ended up crashing his SUV in a crazy way.

An Oregon burglary suspect was apprehended after a pretty wild turn of events. As reported by the New York Post, he crashed his SUV during a police chase, and it ended up rolling, ejecting him out of the vehicle.

The Clackamas County Sheriff's Office reported that they had responded to a report of a burglary. The incident happened on Tuesday, May 5, at around 4pm local time. Someone had called 911 and stated they had checked their surveillance cameras, and saw a man enter their garage before taking several items.

The caller, upon meeting the police, told them that he believed the man was driving a white Ford Explorer SUV. Police managed to identify the man as Scotty Nicholas Oldfield.

His vehicle was then spotted by a deputy, and he had the expected reaction - he sped off, straight past the police. And then, the police chase began.

And it went on and on, as the cars sped at high speed. But then, the Ford Explorer went straight into another occupied vehicle. It was a pretty gnarly crash, too, because the SUV went rolling, and Oldfield was ejected from the car.

The Suspect Was Rescued From the Scene of the SUV Crash

Of course, the police couldn't just take the man into jail immediately. He had to be checked over first. And, in case you're wondering about the man the SUV crashed into - he declined medical care at the scene. According to authorities, Oldfield had serious injuries that needed to be checked.

Deputies searched Oldfield's vehicle following the crash, and found stolen items. Following this, Oldfield was charged with a slew of crimes. These include: second degree burglary; first-degree theft; attempting to elude a police officer; reckless driving; reckless endangerment; DUII; identity theft; driving while suspended or revoked; third-degree assault (DUII); and criminal mischief.

But that's not all. Oldfield ended up having multiple outstanding warrants from both Oregon and Washington state. The charges he was facing were pretty severe, as well, including identity theft, asault, reckless endangerment, and robbery.

We hope that this case is solved quickly. Either way, we're glad the man's okay.
